Legislative Activity

Dairylea members are represented on local, state and national legislative issues through the Cooperative's own lobbying efforts and its work with state, regional, and national organizations. In many cases, Dairylea works with other organizations to generate greater political strength, but there are also times when it voices concern or suggestions on its own. Dairylea also works to establish and strengthen relationships with local, state and national policy-makers.

Dairylea is actively involved with the following organizations:

• Empire State Council of Agricultural Organizations
• Penn State Council of Farm Organizations

• Association of Dairy Cooperatives of the Northeast
• Center for Dairy Excellence

Dairylea also created LEAPAC - its political action committee - in order to financially support those legislators who have taken an active interest in promoting causes that have been beneficial to the dairy industry and agriculture. Members can make a one-time contribution or support through a monthly check deduction.
